November 22-November 23

We left Georgetown, SC about 7 am on Friday Nov. 23. Going out the channel to the ocean was a challenge. The fog was really bad, several boats do not have AIS, (Automatic Positioning System) this will tell us where the boats are in our 10 mile area. We send out a signal to other boats our location and we have the receiver that tells us other boats.

When the fog lifted it was a gorgeous day at sea. Because of the clouds it was an early night. I took the 7-10 shift so Bo could sleep down stairs, we had out sail up but had it reefed for balance as the waves were a little rolly. Besides keeping an eye out and watching the chart plotter I had my Oak Ridge Boys with me so life is good.

Bo got up and I went down and slept until about 4am, came up and our day started over again.

We had to slow down our time and change directions so ST Augustine,FL was not going to be met.

There had been gale warning for several days in the forecast but we had plenty of time to beat it. About noon we started to call several marinas about stopping there but they would refer us to a marina that was tucked in to the winds would not effect us. We finally got to Amelia Island, FL about 2 pm. We are only able to get in and out on high tide as our draft is 6 ft and the only time the channel it gets that deep is at high tide. We went up to check in, shower and do 3 loads of laundry. We met 3 other sailers that were doing the same thing. One sailer was headed to the Exhumes and then on to the BVI, the other sailers were from Canada and just going and enjoying life

We stopped at the bar/restaurant I had fresh shrimp and Bo southern pulled port back to the boat and settle in.

During the night the winds picked up and they are suppose to grown all day so will be here for several days until the weather straightens out.

We we are out( in the ocean)  and see the sunsets and sunrises and our flag we realize how blessed we are and have someones had on our shoulder during all our travels.

Clear skies and fair winds.
